Removal & Updates
An arrest record follows people long after a case is over. We think that is a reason to be careful, not a reason to charge for mercy. Here is how to get a post updated or removed, for free.
Your case resolved in your favor
If your charge was dropped, dismissed, or you were acquitted, tell us. Email removals@austinmugshot.com with the link and, if you have it, a document showing the outcome. We will update the story to reflect the result or take it down. Your choice.
Your record was expunged or sealed
Under Texas law, some records can be expunged or sealed by court order (an order of nondisclosure). If a court has sealed or expunged your record, we honor that and remove the related coverage on request, at no charge. A copy of the order helps us act quickly.
The information is wrong
If we got a fact wrong — the wrong person, the wrong photo, the wrong charge — that is a correction, and we will fix it fast.
Other removal requests
Even when a case is still open or unresolved, you can write to us and explain your situation. We read every request from a real person, and we weigh privacy and safety seriously, especially for victims, minors, and people in crisis. We cannot promise to remove every post, but we will always read yours, and we will never ask you for money to consider it.
What we need from you
- The link to the specific post or story.
- Enough detail to find and verify it (name as posted, approximate date).
- Any supporting document you have — a dismissal, an expungement order, an ID correction. Optional, but it speeds things up.
