Corrections Policy

Last updated July 2026

We will make mistakes. What matters is how fast we fix them and how openly. Correcting the record is free, always.

How to request a correction

Email corrections@austinmugshot.com with the link to the story and what is wrong. If you can point us to a document — a court record, a dismissal, an ID correction — it helps us move faster. You do not need a lawyer, and there is never a fee.

We aim to respond within two business days and to correct verified errors promptly after that.

What counts as a correction

  • A factual error: wrong name, wrong charge, wrong date, wrong photo, wrong location.
  • A case update: a charge was dropped, dismissed, expunged, or resolved.
  • A record sealed or expunged by a court, which we honor on request.

How we handle it

When we correct a factual error in a story, we fix the text and, where the change is significant, note that the story was corrected and when. We do not quietly rewrite history to pretend the error never happened; transparency is the point.

Removals and case updates

Some requests go beyond a typo — you want a post updated because your case resolved, or taken down entirely. That is covered in our removal & updates policy, and like everything here, it is free.
