Three dead in two overnight shootings across Austin on Fourth of July weekend

Three people were killed in two separate overnight shootings across Austin over the Fourth of July weekend, according to the Austin Police Department and local reporting.

In the first, officers responded to a call around 11:48 p.m. on July 4 to the parking lot outside a sports bar in North Austin. One of the victims, 18-year-old Antonio Cleveland, was found on the sidewalk just outside the bar and was later pronounced dead, police said. A second victim was reported in stable condition. Police said Cleveland and the other victim were shot by an unidentified suspect who left the area, and that no suspect had been identified.

A second shooting followed just before 4 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a nightclub in Northeast Austin, where officers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired. Authorities said the parties involved appeared to be known to each other and that there was no ongoing threat to the public. No arrests had been announced.

Anyone with information can contact APD or submit an anonymous tip through Capital Area Crime Stoppers. This story will be updated as police release more information.
